PCG: The Philippine Coast Guard held a closing ceremony for the recently concluded Commandant’s Cup Summer Sportsfest 2016 at the HPCG Shaded Area today, May 31.

PCG: Captain Rudyard M Somera PCG (MNSA), CESE, Deputy Commander, Coast Guard Education and Training Command spearheaded the convening ceremony of the 102 male trainees of Coast Guardman Course (CGMC) Class 54-2016 at Coast Guard Non-Officer Basic Education and Training Center in Taguig City today, May 31.

PCGA-PIO: Around 1,200 members of the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary (PCGA) will troop to Subic, Zambales for the 32nd National Convention of the country’s sole uniformed volunteer organization, with no less than the Philippine president as the guest of honor. 

PCG: Personnel of Coast Guard District Southeastern Mindanao successfully evacuated the master of M/V Ten Jo Maru who suffered from stroke while onboard the said vessel on May 25.

PCG: Coast Guard Station Subic personnel is still on search for the fisherman who went missing since May 23 while on fishing venture at vicinity of West Philippine Sea, 130 nautical miles off Subic, Zambales.

Information revealed that on May 27, a certain Mr Jonnifer Basillote, boat captain and operator of FB Al Francis reported to CGS Subic that one of his fishermen namely Mr Larry Delos Santos, 24 years old went missing in the Scarborough Shoal Area.

According to Mr. Basillote, the said missing fisherman did not follow his order to take the given course towards the location of the mother boat.  Delos Santos was last seen borrowing four (4) liters of gasoline from FB Mark Jean, another fishing boat positioned at vicinity 25 nautical miles Southeast of Scarborough Shoal.

PCG. Special Operations Unit of Coast Guard Station Manila is still searching for the missing teen at vicinity waters of Tonsuya Bridge along Tullahan River, Malabon City.

Reports gathered from Mr Raymund San Juan of Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) revealed that said teenager who was identified as a certain John Michael Luis, 13 years old and a resident of Brgy San Agusting, Malabon went missing while swimming in the river on May 26 at 4:30PM together with three (3) other children.

Immediately, personnel of CGS Pasig and Special Operations Unit of CGS Manila conducted underwater search and rescue operations at the said vicinity. At 8PM of the same date, SAR operations was temporarily terminated due to the strong current in Tullahan River. 

PCG: A 12-year old female orphan was found lifeless by the Coast Guard along Pasig River last Saturday, May 21.
The victim, identified as Myla Rianne Toquero, is among the orphans living in Hospicio De San Jose located at a river island in Pasig River.

Myla was seen drowning by a concerned citizen around 11:00 a.m. last Saturday who then immediately reported the incident to Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Hospicio De San Jose.

With the warning issued by PAGASA that heavy rains may likely hit the country because the La Nina phenomenon, Philippine Coast Guard Commandant Rear Admiral William Melad, today directed all Coast Guard units nationwide to initiate pro active measures to prevent/minimize loss of lives attributed to maritime incidents that may be caused by the rainy season and expected threats of typhoons.

PCG: A boat crew in Taytay, Palawan remains missing since Tuesday, May 17.
Benjie Casampol was onboard MBca Emerson 7 along with six crew and a skipper. The men departed San Fernando, El Nido for Linapacan, Palawan to load some provisions. Upon arrival in Linapacan, Capt. Jemuel Carumba noticed that he was missing.
The boat owner, Emerson Sedeste, reported the incident to Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Linapacan and a search and rescue operations was immediately launched for Casampol.

PCG: Coast Guard Caticlan personnel successfully evacuated and subsequently brought a passenger onboard M/V Supper Shuttle Ferry 18 who was reportedly found unconscious at the accommodation area of the vessel last May 13.
The incident was immediately reported by the ship’s crew to the Vessel Safety Enforcement Inspection (VSEI) team of the PCG at Caticlan Jetty Port.

Ericris Bernado De Guzman, 26 and a resident of Baliwag, Bulacan took a vacation at her fiancé’s home town in Estancia, Iloilo prior to the incident.
After conducting several medical examinations, the attending physician revealed that the patient suffered from angina pectoris (chest pain) and also had a history of asthma.

PCG: A security guard of the Rio Tuba Nickel Mining Company (RTNMC) was found dead along the vicinity waters of Sitio Biya-Biya, Brgy. Taratak, Bataraza, Palawan last Friday, May 13.

PCG: Two foreign nationals and a Filipino crew were rescued by the Coast Guard at the vicinity waters of Samal Island after two days of being stranded at sea.

PCG: 18 Vietnamese fishermen were apprehended in three separate patrols by the Philippine Coast Guard from May 10 to12 in a joint Monitoring, Control and Surveillance (MCS) mission in Sta. Ana, Cagayan.

PCG. Joint personnel from Coast District Western Visayas (CGDWV) Medical Team headed by CAPT LUZ C ESCARILLA PCG and Coast Guard Station (CGS) Iloilo together with representative of Bureau of Customs and Quarantine successfully evacuated a sick crew of M/T Bunga Allium at Sinapsapan Point in Guimaras Island, Thursday evening of May 12, 2016.

PCG: The security escort of a capsized skip boat was found dead around 2:00 a.m. yesterday at the vicinity waters of Navotas Fish Port.
Mark Rivera was reported missing last Sunday, May 8 after he jumped overboard the then capsizing skip boat “Consort 2” outside the breakwater of Navotas Fishport.
Investigation revealed that Consort 2 was assisting F/V Valiant Transport from maneuvering off the port when it was dragged by the latter until it capsized.
Three rescuers were immediately deployed by Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Navotas along with four Special Operations Group personnel of Coast Guard Station (CGS) Manila. Fishermen in the area were likewise alerted that a person was missing.

PCG: Coast Guard in Northeastern Luzon personnel retrieved the lifeless body of a fishermen who was earlier reported to be trapped in Pinakanawan River, Peñablanca, Cagayan yesterday morning.
The victim was identified as Noel Salvio, resident of Barangay Aggugadan, Peñablanca, Cagayan.
Reports by the Office of the Civil Dense Region 2 revealed that Salvio was already requesting for rescue assistance when he got accidentally trapped at the said river. The information was relayed to the Coast Guard District Northeastern Luzon (CGDNELZN) which immediately deployed its Special Operations Unit to rescue the victim.

PCG: A disoriented sperm whale was beached at the shorelines of Barangay Marina, San Jose, Antique around 9:30 a.m. yesterday.
The distressed mammal was found by 24-year old Ronald Charlie Ledesma 10 meters from the shoreline and was immediately reported to the Coast Guard Station (CGS) San Jose de Buenavista.

It measures 546 cm in length, 76 cms in width and weighs 80 kilograms.

PCG: The Coast Guard District North Eastern Luzon (CGDNELZN) conducted Water Search and Rescue (WASAR) and Rubber Boat Operation and Maintenance (RBOM) Training last 25-29 April 2016 at the Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) San Vicente and Naval Base Camelo Osias, Santa Ana, Cagayan.

PCG: A yet unnamed drowning victim in Molo, Iloilo was successfully rescued by the Coast Guard yesterday, May 4.

The victim was seen by one of the crew of motor banca Three Sisters 98 three meters from the shoreline of Barangay North Baluarte, Molo.

A team of rescuers from the Coast Guard Station (CGS) Iloilo and Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Iloilo Fish Port Complex immediately went to sea and pulled the person out of the water. The victim was successfully revived by the rescuers and was brought to the nearest hospital for further medical assistance.

Personnel of  Coast Guard District North Western Luzon, Coast Guard Station San Fernando, Coast Guard Sub-station Aringay together with Coast Guard Medical and Dental personnel conducted a simultaneous OPLAN "Tuli" and OPLAN "Bunot" at the Multi-purpose Hall in Barangay Samara, Aringay, La Union last April 29.

Mr. Jerome Tipon, a 27 year old member of the Alab Sagwan Dragon Boat Team was found dead by the Coast Guard Substation CCP. The cadaver was sighted at the vicinity waters off Manila Yatch Club by one security guard of MYC at around 1:20 AM today.

Alab Sagwan Dragon Boat Team was reported having their practice yesterday morning but upon reaching the entrance of Manila Yatch Club, the boat was filled-in with seawater causing it to capsize. Accordingly, the team members panicked and grabbed the half submerged boat while the victim was last seen holding the fontail when they were rescued by other team members.

The boat was loaded with 22 persons. All the twenty one (21) members were immediately rescued yesterday.

As the parents of the victim Mr. and Mrs Danilo Tipon positively identified their son, the cadaver was also turned over to them and was brought to funeral service for proper disposition.
