PCG: Coast Guard still searching for 12 missing person onboard M/bca “Christian” at vicinity waters off Mariveles, Bataan last March 20.

The two fishermen were not yet recognized while the 10 identified are as follows:

• Angelito Silva, 50 yrs old

• Angel Silva, 14 yrs old

• Ramon Del Rosario Sr., 60 yrs old

PCG: Three missing fishermen onboard unnamed motorbanca were the subject of search and rescue operations by the elements of Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Pandan at vicinity waters off Eastern part of Catanduanes since March 17.

The missing fishermen were identified as Mr. Edwin Briones Sr, 56 years old, Mr. Edwin Briones Jr, 25 years old and Mr. Dindo Losito, 25 years old and all residents of Brgy. Tubli Caramoran Catanduanes.

The incident was then reported by Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (MDRRMO).

Immediately, CGSS Pandan conducted search and rescue (SAR) operation together with fisherfolks and hired unnamed motorbanca at vicinity of Northern and Eastern part off Pandan, Catanduanes.

PCG: 18 officer/crew onboard LCT Marc Jason III departed Tandayag Amlan, Negros Oriental capsized at vicinity seawaters off Montañeza, Malabuyoc, Cebu last March 22.

Investigation revealed from Capt Francisco C Orbita Master of said vessel that LCT Marc Jason III loaded with 1,000 metric tons of fine sand bound to Sta. Fe Bantayan Island Cebu.

The incident report was no casualty. However, the estimated cost of damage to property is still undetermined.

CGSS Bato advised the Master of subject vessel to file a marine protest relative to the incident and likewise advised to hire accredited/authorized salvor in order to refloat said vessel.

Coast Guard District Northern Mindanao (CGDNM) successfully conducted convening ceremony of Water Search and Rescue (WASAR) training of Class 08-2017 last March 21.

Said training was composed of 32 students, one officer, 31 non-officers and Coast Guard Auxillaries.

The purpose of the said activity is to ensure and enhance individual skills of every PCG personnel to conduct of WASAR. The training further aims to develop every Coastguardsman to deliver appropriate service to the community.

PCG: The Philippine Coast Guard rendered a Testimonial Parade and Review in honor of the Chief of Coast Guard Staff COMMO BON DAN D CHAN PCG yesterday, March 22 at the Headquarters Coast Guard Ready Force, Pier 13, Port Area, Manila. 

PCG: Rear Admiral Luis M Tuason Jr PCG presided the turn-over ceremony of Chief of Coast Guard Staff (CCGS) and Coast Guard Weapons, Communications, Electronics and Information Systems Command (CGWCEISC) at the Headquarters Philippine Coast Guard, Pier 15, Manila yesterday, 22 March.

PCG: PCG crew members of BRP Malabrigo (MRRV-4402) has successfully medically evacuated an ailing passenger of a foreign cruise ship at vicinity waters 1.5 NM Northwest of Carabao Island, Cavite, today, 19 March 2017.

PCG: Atty Efren A Legaspi,  Manager, Estate Management Department, PNOC has formally turned over to CDR VIVIEN JANE E CAY PCG, Director, CG Real Estate Management Office (REMO) the Transfer Certificate of Title of 4, 195 square meter lot in Pureza Manila  presently occupied by Sub Station Pureza today, 16 March 2017.

PCG: Personnel of Coast Guard Clearing Out Post (COP) Monreal rescued five (5) crew members onboard fishing banca Warren which capsized at vicinity waters off San Miguel Island, Monreal, Masbate at around 7:30 AM yesterday, 16 March 2017.

Initial reports disclosed that personnel from Coast Guard Sub-Station Bulan received a phone call from a certain Ms. Jennifer Barloso, a resident of Brgy. Aguinaldo, Bulan, Sorsogon informing that said fishing banca capsized after being battered by big waves that caused damage to its portside freeboard.

Upon receipt, personnel of CGSS Bulan informed COP Monreal regarding the said incident. Personnel of COP Monreal Immediately proceeded to said vicinity and successfully conducted search and rescue operations. 

Joint personnel from Coast Guard District Palawan and Special Operations Unit-Palawan, Coast Guard Auxiliary District Palawan in cooperation with Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park, United Nations Development Program, and Pilipinas Shell Foundation held a five (5) - day Water Safety and Rescue (WASAR) Training to thirty three (33) tour guides, boat operators and crew of Sitio Sabang, Brgy Cabayugan, Puerto Princesa City, Palawan last 06-10 March 2017.

The Philippine Delegation to the Fourth Session of the Navigation, Communications and Search and Rescue (NCSR), made a detailed presentation on the proposed Area to be Avoided (ATBA) at the meeting of the Experts Group on Ships Routeing last 6-10 March 2017 at the IMO Headquarters in London.

PCG: Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Assistant Secretary for Operations Rodolfo C Santillan together with OCD Region VI Director Ms Rosario Cabrera visited Coast Guard Station (CGS) Iloilo on March 15, 2017.

PCG: 10 March 2017 – The International Maritime Organization (IMO) Sub-Committee on Navigation, Communications, and Search and Rescue (NCSR) approved the Philippine proposal to establish the entire Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park (TRNP) in the Sulu Sea as an Area to be Avoided (ATBA) in order to protect its fragile marine environment.

PCG: Coast Guard Station (CGS) Cuyo continued its search for a missing fisherman onboard unnamed fishing banca painted with blue on its hull and white freeboard at the vicinity waters of Brgy. Suba, Cuyo, Palawan last 12 March 2017.

The fisherman was identified as Mr Paquito Lusa, 46 years old and resident of said barangay.

Investigation revealed that said fisherman departed for a fishing venture but failed to return home at expected time.

PCG: Search operation continues for a male passenger of ML “Nur-Ena” who jumped overboard the vessel last March 12 at the vicinity of Duhay Bolod, Sulu.

The passenger was identified as a certain Mr. Anthony Escuadro, 26 years old and a resident of Zamboanga Sibugay.

Accordingly, ML “Nur-Ena” was cleared by Coast Guard Station (CGS) Jolo and departed Hadji Warid Port in Jolo, Sulu bound to Zamboanga City with eight crew and passengers composed of 50 adults and eight children onboard.

PCG: Joint personnel of Coast Guard Station (CGS) Central Aurora together with Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Baler, CGSS North Eastern Aurora and CGSS South Western Aurora have successfully retrieved a man from drowning at the shoreline off Brgy Lipit, Dipaculao, Aurora yesterday March 13.

The victim was identified as Reden Borillo, 19 yrs old and a resident of Barangay Puangi, Dipaculao.

Subsequently, after the victim was autopsied the remains of Borillo was then turned over to his family and brought to Fortera Funeral Homes in Dipaculao for proper disposition.

PCG: Coast Guard District South Western Mindanao (CGDSWM) celebrated its 49th Founding Anniversary on Thursday, 09 March 2017 at Tangan Gym, Naval Station Romulo Espaldon, Bagong Calarian, Zamboanga City graced by the Officer-in-Charge, Philippine Coast Guard, Commodore Joel S Garcia PCG, Ph.D., H.D., Al-Haj as the Guest of Honor.

The elements of Coast Guard Sub Station (CGSS) Nagpayong together with Coast Guard Special Operations Group conducted search and retrieval operation of a female victim who got drowned in the vicinity of C-5 Bridge, Makati on March 6.

The victim was identified as Sheena Ravelo Caturan, 25 years old and a resident of Molino 7 Bacoor, Cavite.

As per inquiry to the bystanders, the victim was seen walking along C-5 Bridge when they noticed that she took off her important valuables and eventually jumped off the bridge.

PCG: MRRV – 4403 Malapascua, the third PCG multi-role response vessel from Japan was commissioned into the service by the Secretary of the Department of Transportation, Atty. Arthur P Tugade. The activity was graced by the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the 17th Congress, Honorable Pantaleon D Alvarez as Guest of Honor and Speaker during the commissioning ceremony at Headquarters Philippine Coast Guard in Manila this morning, March 7.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) personnel in Western Visayas participated in the sendoff ceremony of Force and Resources for the Association of Southeast Asian Nation (ASEAN) 2017 Summit which was held at the Camp Martin Delgado, Iloilo City on March 05, 2017.

 

The Philippine Coast Guard rendered a Testimonial Parade and Review in honor of First Master Chief Petty Officer (FMCPO) Erwin Barja Bellen PCG today, March 1 at Headquarters Coast Guard Ready Force at Pier 13, Port Area, Manila. 

PCG: An unidentified floating male cadaver was retrieved by the elements of Coast Guard Special Operations Unit (SOU) Malacañan at the vicinity of Sta Ana, Ferry Station along Pasig River at 9am yesterday, February 28.

The cadaver was estimated to be 40 to 45 years old, wearing black t-shirt and green short pants.

Accordingly, a crew of Tugboat Sta Ana sighted the floating dead body and immediately reported to Coast Guard Station Pureza. Upon receipt of the report from CGS Pureza, CGS Pasig immediately dispatched SOU Malacañan personnel to conduct a retrieval operations to the said cadaver.
