The Fourth Coast Guard District (4CGD) was activated on 21 April 1968 as a sub-district of the First Coast Guard District, Coast Guard National Capital Region-Central Luzon.

It has three PCG stations namely: Coast Guard Station (CGS) Puerto Princesa, CGS Coron and CGS San Jose in Occidental Mindoro.

On 01 August 1981, 4CGD was upgraded as a district with its headquarters strategically transferred to Palawan’s capital city, Puerto Princesa City for better command and control of units.

On 16 March 1983, CGS San Jose was detached from the district and was as-signed as the fifth district pursuant to Section 2; Paragraph 13 of General Order Number 74 dated 16 March 1983.

On 01 June 1993, CGS Brooke’s Point was activated as Class “C” station pursuant to Section 1 of HPCG General Orders Number 14 dated 18 May 1993.

Likewise, on 17 January 2000, pursuant to Section 01 of HPCG General Order Number 14 dated 16 February 2000, CGS Liminangcong was activated as Class “C” station.

On 22 November 2000, changes were effected in the unit designations among the different PCG districts.

As such the 4CGD was renamed as Coast Guard District Palawan (CGDPAL) pursuant to HPCG Memorandum Circular Number 13 dated 18 October 2000.
