Personnel of Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Araceli successfully rescued the skipper of a distressed unregistered motor banca powered by Yamamoto (7.5 HP) at the vicinity waters offBrgy. Dagman, Araceli, Palawan last Monday, February 5.
The skipper was identified as Mr. Mark Gil Pantinople, 28 years old and a resident of Barangay Dagman, Araceli, Palawan.
The said incident was reported to CGSS Araceli at 3:30 PM of the said date by a certain Mr. Geronimo Arzaga, 49 years old and Mr. Regie, Aurello, 28 years old, both residents of Barangay Poblacion, Araceli, Palawan. Upon receipt of the report, Search and Rescue team from CGSS Araceli immediately proceeded to the incident area and sighted the distressed motor banca which went half-submerged approximately 1.5 nautical miles away from the shoreline of Barangay Poblacion, Araceli, Palawan. Subsequently, the PCG SAR team rescued Mr. Pantinople in good physical condition while his motor banca was towed to the nearest shoreline of the said barangay.
Investigation revealed that while underway from Barangay Dagman enroute to Barangay Poblacion, Araceli, Palawan, subject motor banca was battered by big waves and strong winds.
Personnel of CGSS Araceli further advised the fisherfolks in the area not to venture out to the sea when weather and sea conditions are unfavorable.
