Elements of Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Pulupandan successfully rescued three fishermen at the vicinity waters off Pulupandan, Negros Occidental during the height of Typhoon “Ompong”.

Initial report disclosed by Mr Ric S Baustista, Deployable Response personnel of Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office that the fishermen departed Purok Mahigugma-on, Barangay patic, Palupandan, Negros Occidental around 9 AM of September 15 to conduct fishing venture. While underway, they encountered big waves and strong winds which caused them to capsize.

Upon arrival at the above mentioned vicinity, the PCG personnel conducted rescue operation of the fishermen who were found clinging on their capsized fishing boat "2 Brothers".

The fishermen were all residents of Barangay Zone 6, Palupandan, Negros Occidental namely Manuel U Morales, 39 years old; Carlo M Nunal, 34 years old; and Mark John C Mallorca, 29 years old.

At about 12 PM, the rescued fishermen returned to their respective families in good physical condition.
