The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has appointed seven community leaders and boat operators in Batangas as the newest members of the 502nd Auxiliary Squadron under the PCG District Southern Tagalog today, 15 October 2021.

These Auxiliarists are tasked to organize and lead Coastal Community Auxiliary Divisions (CCADs) in their respective areas of responsibility that are mandated to monitor and report illegal maritime activities; act as first responders during maritime emergencies and disasters; and implement sustainable livelihood projects in their respective coastal communities:

1) Auxiliarist Elmer Mendezabal – Sta. Clara to San Pascual, Batangas

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and Philippine Merchant Marine Academy (PMMA) have strengthen their partnership for the development of the Coast Guard's human resources through the signing of a memorandum of agreement (MOA) today, 15 October 2021.

Leading the signing ceremony were PCG Commandant, CG Vice Admiral Leopoldo V Laroya, and PMMA Superintendent, Commodore Joel Abutal that occurred during the 120th anniversary celebration of the PCG.

“The PMMA has been our dependable partner in the development of our human resources. As a matter of fact, some of our key officers holding relevant positions were graduates of the institution, while some officers manning our ships also graduated from PMMA under the PCG - PMMA cadetship program,” CG Vice Admiral Leopoldo V Laroya said.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has celebrated its 120th anniversary at the National Headquarters, Port Area, Manila today, 15 October 2021.

Gracing the event was Department of Transportation - Philippines (DOTr) Secretary Art Tugade who led the recognition of commendable Coast Guard personnel and units, as well as partner agencies and organizations that helped the service in accomplishing its mandates in the past year.

The conferment of the following awards are attestations of the PCG’s commitment to protect and secure the maritime nation amid new challenges:

Department of Transportation - Philippines (DOTr) Secretary Art Tugade led the donning and oath-taking ceremonies of newly-promoted PCG flag rank officers, CG REAR ADMIRAL JUAN MANUEL DF RAMOS JR and CG REAR ADMIRAL CHARLIE Q RANCES, yesterday, 12 October 2021.

CG Rear Admiral Ramos entered the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) in 1986 and graduated as a proud member of the “Tanglaw Diwa” Class of 1992.

He served as Commander of several Coast Guard stations before working as Deputy Chief of Coast Guard Staff for Comptrollership, Deputy Chief of Coast Guard Staff for Logistics, Commander of the Coast Guard Procurement Service, Deputy Chief of Coast Guard Staff for Maritime Communications, Weapons, Electronics, and Information System, and Deputy Chief of Coast Guard Staff for Civil Relation Service.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has showcased its newly acquired Remote Controlled Weapon System (RCWS) from the Israeli Government during its 120th anniversary celebration today, 15 October 2021.

Utilizing government-to-government transactions, the PCG and Israel’s Ministry of Defense collaborated on the acquisition of the RCWS in 2018. Department of Transportation - Philippines (DOTr) Secretary Art Tugade fully supported the initiative.

The said system, the first-of-its-kind acquisition in PCG history, will be installed on eight Coast Guard multi-role response vessels (MRRVs).
