The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has appointed seven community leaders and boat operators in Batangas as the newest members of the 502nd Auxiliary Squadron under the PCG District Southern Tagalog today, 15 October 2021.

These Auxiliarists are tasked to organize and lead Coastal Community Auxiliary Divisions (CCADs) in their respective areas of responsibility that are mandated to monitor and report illegal maritime activities; act as first responders during maritime emergencies and disasters; and implement sustainable livelihood projects in their respective coastal communities:

1) Auxiliarist Elmer Mendezabal – Sta. Clara to San Pascual, Batangas

2) Auxiliarist Luisito Macalalad – Mabini to Tingloy, Batangas

3) Auxiliarist Peter Alcantara – Taal Lake - Agoncillo / San  Nicolas / Alitagtag / Cuenca / Lipa  City, Batangas

4) Auxiliarist Wilfredo Pormison – San Luis / Lemery / Calaca, Batangas

5) Auxiliarist Jorge Cantos – Lobo / San Juan, Batangas              

6) Auxiliarist Juanito Magpantay – Isla Verde

7) Auxiliarist Nelson Calingasan Jr – Laurel / Talisay / Tanauan / Balete / Mataas na Kahoy, Batangas

8. Auxiliarist Florante Harina – San Nicolas / Alitagtag / Agoncillo / Portion of Lipa, Batangas

 

Moreover, six Auxiliarists from the coastal communities of Navotas and Parañaque under the 109th Auxiliary Squadron of the PCG District NCR – Central Luzon also took oath to support the PCG in the promotion of safety of lives and properties at sea, protection of the marine environment, conduct of maritime search and rescue, as well as maintenance of aids to navigation, among others:

The Philippines has 14,000 coastal communities all over the country. Hence, the PCGA has pursued the organization of CCADs composed of fishermen, boat owners, and other stakeholders who are willing to assist the PCG in the performance of its mandated functions.
