Ito ang hamon ni Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Commandant, CG Admiral Artemio M Abu sa 1,325 trainees na sasailalim sa Coast Guard Non-Officer’s Course (CGNOC) sa PCG regional training centers sa Taguig, La Union, at Zamboanga.

Bago sumabak sa anim na buwang pagsasanay, nagsama-sama ang mga trainees ng CGNOC Class 90, Class 91, at Class 92 sa Pier 13, Port Area, Manila para sa JOINT OATH-TAKING AT CONVENING CEREMONY kahapon, ika-16 ng Mayo 2022.

“It is expected of every Coast Guard personnel to be an individual of character. I want to emphasize the importance of discipline and obedience. You need to learn and cultivate the culture of respect, trust, teamwork, and good human relations,” ani CG Admiral Abu.

Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Commandant, CG Admiral Artemio M Abu, graced the send-off ceremony for the four vessels participating in the Regional Marine Pollution Exercise (MARPOLEX) 2022 in the vicinity waters off Makassar, Indonesia from 22 to 29 May 2022.

“This maritime exercise directly impacts doctrines, training, capability development, and strategies that we may utilize in future undertakings. The PCG will participate in the MARPOLEX 2022 to strengthen our oil spill response and management capability, and strengthen our relationship and interoperability with the Coast Guards of Indonesia and Japan,” CG Admiral Abu said.

The PCG’s largest vessel to date, BRP Teresa Magbanua (MRRV-9701), will join the said maritime exercise as its first deployment after being commissioned into the Coast Guard service on 06 May 2022.

Now more than ever, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) is capable of performing its maritime-related mandates and conducting disaster response operations during calamities and amid the global pandemic.

The PCG also continues to strengthen its capability in terms of workforce. From 8,500 in 2016, the organizations is now more than 23,000-strong.

As part of the PCG’s modernization program, vital maritime, aerial, and land mobility assets were also acquired. The PCG established and rehabilitated headquarters and stations in different parts of the country; procured weapons and rescue equipment; and operationalized 570 lighthouses nationwide.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) will deploy BRP Teresa Magbanua (MRRV-9701) for its first-ever mission ten days after its formal commissioning into the Coast Guard service this afternoon, 16 May 2022.

The said multi-role response vessel (MRRV) will participate in the Regional Marine Pollution Exercise (MARPOLEX) 2022 between the PCG, Directorate of Sea Transportation (DGST) of the Republic of Indonesia, and Japan Coast Guard (JCG) in the vicinity waters off Makassar, Indonesia from 22 to 29 May 2022.

Aside from BRP Teresa Magbanua (MRRV-9701), BRP Gabriela Silang (OPV-8301), BRP Malapascua (MRRV-4403) and BRP Cape Engaño (MRRV-4411) will also join MARPOLEX 2022 to assess the oil spill response capabilities of the Philippines, Indonesia, and Japan.
